When it comes to flagship smartphones, prices tend to keep going up. It’s becoming more and more common for flagship Android phones to retail for well over $1,000. Which is a huge chunk of money.
Motorola is trying to bring the price back down to Earth with the release of the Motorola Edge. While the phone’s permanent price is $699, the company is currently offering it with a $200 discount for anyone who pre-orders it before launch. This means you can get the unlocked phone with flagship specs for $499, which is all but unheard of in 2020.
Motorola Edge Specs
What makes the Motorola Edge stand out is the specs it offers for the price. It ticks all the boxes you expect to see from a flagship phone, but it manages to do it for cheaper than most.
Motorola managed to include an impressive 6.7-inch Full HD Plus OLED display with a 2340×1080 resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. That’s in the same ballpark as the screens offered on many of the high-end flagships. The sexy display flows over the side of the device, creating an infinite display.
Powering that big screen is a Snapdragon 765G processor with support for 5G and a solid 6GB of RAM. The phone also comes with 256GB of storage and a microSD slot that will expand the storage up to 1TB. A 4,500mAh battery will keep the phone alive and kicking for up to two days, depending on how you use it.
The camera array is imposing. It packs three sensors—a 64MP primary, a 16MP ultra-wide, and an 8MP telephoto. It also includes a 25MP sensor on the front for capturing selfies.
Some other notable details of the Motorola Edge include a 3.5mm headphone jack, USB-C charging, and NFC with Google Pay.
Motorola Edge Availability
You can currently preorder the Motorola Edge today for $499 from the Motorola website, Amazon.com, and B&H. Best Buy is also offering the device, but it’s selling it for $449. So, if you want to get it for even less money, Best Buy might be the place to go.
Regardless of where you pre-order it from, Motorola expects to ship the first Edge devices on July 31st, so, if you decide to snag one, you won’t have to wait too long to get your hands on the phone.
Motorola hasn’t said that the price will jump $200 once the Edge officially releases on July 31st. Still, we’d expect that to be the case, as the company is likely using the discounted price to drum up interest in pre-orders.
