Google is constantly improving Google Assistant. The company took to The Keyword to reveal some exciting new features that’ll help families stay organized during the back to school season.
With schools likely keeping at least a portion of education online due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it’s more important than ever for families to keep track of their schedules. Google’s new features help with coordinating schedules, communicating, and creating a fun learning experience.
Google Assistant’s New Back to School Features
The first feature coming to Google Assistant is called Family Bell. It lets you add reminders that’ll go off throughout the day for the whole house. These will remind everyone to do just about anything.
You could set a reminder to start an online class, take a break, or read a book. Now that families are being forced to handle large parts of education at home, this tool could help keep everyone on task.
Google also tweaked its broadcast feature. Instead of broadcasting messages to all rooms, you can now send a message to a specific one.
This change will make communication around the home more manageable, and it can prevent distractions. If you need to remind one child to take a break, you don’t need to distract the other kids who are still working with a message.
While not a game-changer, Google also added a feature for its smart displays and speakers that’ll show school-themed visuals. It will also play the familiar sounds of school when you say, “Hey Google, start the school day.” The audio portion will also work on smart speakers, helping to create an environment that feels alive.
The last thing coming to Google Assistant is a fun animal of the day feature. You can say, “Hey Google, tell me about the animal of the day” to hear some fun facts.
Learn What Else Google Assistant Can Do
Google Assistant is a powerful tool as long as you know how to use it. You can use Google Assistant routines to plan your entire day, for example. Google Assistant (along with Google smart speakers and displays) is a potent tool for helping kids get back to school in the new normal.
Along with Google Assistant, make sure you get the right supplies for online education.
